Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cold room evaporator?

The refrigeration evaporator is the name given to any heat exchanger where the refrigerant is evaporated at low temperature and therefore at low pressure, but usually above atmospheric pressure to prevent gas and/or water vapor leakages into the low-pressure circuit.

What are the 4 main types of evaporators?

There are four main types of evaporators.

  • Bare Tube Evaporators,
  • Plate Surface Evaporators,
  • Finned Tube Evaporators, and.
  • Shell and Tube Evaporators.

How do I choose an evaporator for a cold room?

Low-temperature Cold Room (-16℃~-25℃): For example, low-temperature freezing and refrigeration and cold-chain logistics storage, should choose the air chiller with the fin spacing of 6mm~8mm; Quick-freezing Cold Room (-25℃~-35℃): generally choose chillers with fin spacing of 10mm~12mm.

What is the working principle of cold room?

Just like any refrigeration system, cold rooms use an evaporator inside the unit and a condenser outside the unit to move heat outside, thus cooling the inside.

Which type of evaporator is best?

The Short Path Evaporator SPE is the best solution for molecular distillation and purification of extremely heat-sensitive substances and products with very high boiling point, under extreme vacuum conditions. For this type of applications, the pressure drop of the external condenser would be unacceptable.

How do you control a cold room?

Keep Your Cold Room Clean and Well Maintained

  1. Keep cold room floors and surfaces clean and clear of dirt or dust.
  2. Clean up any spillages right away.
  3. Remove any waste and rubbish.
  4. Check if the cold room temperature is correct / your refrigeration system is working effectively.

What is evaporator capacity?

The capacity of evaporator is defined as the amount of vapour evaporated i.e. V kg/h. The steam economy is determined by evaluating how much of steam S kg/h is consumed against V kg/h vapour evaporation.

Are compressors AC or DC?

An AC current compressor is powered by alternative voltage such as 120 or 220 V and 50 Hz. Electrical motor of the AC compressor is an AC induction type. On the other hand, DC compressor requires low voltage and direct current supply such as 12–24 V.

What is the function of cooling coil in AHU?

A cooling coil dehumidifies and cools the air. Depending on the AHU system, either a chilled water cooling coil or a direct expansion cooling coil will be used.

What does AC stabilizer do?

Stabilisers are primarily used to protect ACs from voltage fluctuations. If you live in an area with frequent power surges or voltage drops, a stabiliser can help maintain a stable voltage supply to your AC, so you can buy one.
